Product
Description:
SHELTER (Mancozeb 63% + Carbendazim 12% WP) is
a widely used agricultural product that serves as a broad-spectrum fungicide
and offers effective disease control for a variety of crops.
SHELTER is a wettable powder (WP) formulation,
and it contains two active ingredients in the following concentrations:
- Mancozeb: 63%
- Carbendazim: 12%
Active
Ingredients:
- Mancozeb (63%): Mancozeb is a protective fungicide that forms
a barrier on the plant's surface, preventing the establishment of fungal
diseases. It is effective against a wide range of fungal pathogens, including
those that cause leaf spots, blights, and other fungal diseases.
- Carbendazim (12%): Carbendazim is a systemic fungicide that is
absorbed by the plant and provides control against internal fungal infections.
It is particularly effective against diseases like powdery mildew, rust, and
various root and stem rots.
How
to Use:
- Dosage: Consult the manufacturer's recommendations to determine the specific dosage for
your crop and region. It is important to adhere to recommended application
rates to avoid overuse or underuse.
- Application: SHELTER is usually applied by mixing the wettable powder with
water to create a suspension. Ensure even distribution by thorough mixing.
Spray the suspension evenly on the crop foliage using appropriate pray
equipment. Application is typically done during the early stages of crop growth
and at regular intervals as a preventive or curative measure, depending on the
presence of fungal diseases and local conditions.
- Safety Precautions: Wear appropriate protective clothing and gear
during handling and application of the product to prevent exposure to the
chemicals. Read and follow the safety instructions provided on the product label.

Features
of the Product
- SHELTER is a premix combination of Carbendazim 12% + Mancozeb 63% WP.
- Exhibits both contact and systemic action, offering a dual mode of action with synergistic activity.
- Functions as a broad-spectrum fungicide with both preventive and curative capabilities.
- Belongs to the Dithiocarbamate and Benzimidazole carbamate group of fungicides.
- SHELTER is versatile, applicable as a seed treatment, soil drench, and foliar spray to manage various fungal diseases in multiple crops.
- The dual mode of action helps prevent the development of resistance.
- Features a minimal waiting period, ensuring environmental safety as it degrades rapidly in soil and is harmless to beneficial insects.
- Provides extended control lasting 7-10 days.
- Exhibits a beneficial phytotonic effect, promoting greener and healthier treated plants.
- Suitable for
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices.
- Compatible with
a wide range of commonly used insecticides and fungicides.
Method
of Operation
- SHELTER operates
through a dual mode of action:
1. Carbendazim, with systemic activity, inhibits
fungal mitotic microtubule formation, disrupting cell division and impeding the
development of fungal germ tubes and mycelial growth.
2. Mancozeb, working through contact action,
remains on the plant surface post-spraying. Upon exposure to air, it transforms
into an isothiocyanate, deactivating fungal enzymes' sulphahydral groups. This
disruption interferes with the normal functioning of fungal enzymes.
How
and When to Apply
- For optimal
results, SHELTER is suitable as a preventive spray.
- As a curative
fungicide, it is advised to apply immediately upon the appearance of disease
symptoms.
1. Add the recommended Polestar dose to a bucket
filled halfway with water.
2. Mix thoroughly using a stick.
3. Gradually add the remaining recommended
quantity of water with continuous agitation.
- Utilize a
high-volume sprayer such as a knapsack sprayer for effective application.
- Subsequent
sprays can be scheduled based on the severity of the disease.
Safety
Guidelines and Remedy
- Opt for a
uniform spray application for consistent coverage.
- Ensure thorough
coverage of foliage during spraying.
- Avoid spraying
during foggy weather conditions.
- Refrain from
mixing the solution with bare hands.
- Wear appropriate
safety gear, including gloves, aprons, masks, etc.
- During spraying,
abstain from smoking, drinking, eating, or chewing.
- Prevent contact
with the mouth, eyes, and skin.
- After
application, take a thorough bath.
- In case of
exposure, as no specific antidote is known, treat any symptoms that arise symptomatically.
