Description
Vesicular Arbuscular Mycorrhiza (VAM) is cultured using self-isolates derived from Indian forests. As a symbiotic endophytic soil fungus, VAM colonizes the roots of approximately 80% of plant species. The fungi produce hyphae—microscopic tubular structures—that extend beyond crop root hairs into the surrounding soil. These hyphae absorb nutrients from the soil and transport them back to the host plant, facilitating highly efficient mobilization and uptake of fertilizers and other essential nutrients.
Technical Content
- Vesicular-Arbuscular-Mycorrhiza (VAM)
Features & Benefits
FEATURES
- VAM produces powerful enzymes to dissolve tightly bound nutrients such as organic nitrogen, phosphorous, iron, zinc, sulphur and copper.
- It increases the surface area of roots from 100 to 1000 times & provides better crop growth and yield.
- It resists entry of pathogens and nematodes near plant roots.
- Enhances uptake of applied fertilizer’s Nitrogen.
- It also improves biological Nitrogen fixation of legume by improving nodule formation.
- Creates resistance to entry of pathogens and controls the population of rhizosphere microorganisms.
- Improves drought resistance.
- Reduces symptoms incited by disease producing organisms.
- Significantly lowers need of watering and fertilizer
- Increases uptake and mobilization of phosphate in all crops
- Increases uptake of macro and micro nutrients like iron, manga-nese, magnesium, copper, zinc boron, sulphur and molybdenum
- Promotes plant resistance
- against abiotic (drought, chilling) and biotic (soil-borne patho-gens) stresses
Usage
CROPS
- It can be used for all Plants and Crops.
MODE OF ACTION
Fungi infiltrate root systems and extend beyond them, facilitating the absorption of water and nutrients which are then delivered to plant roots. Their filaments promote binding and aggregation of soil particles. Fungal colonies penetrate the cortical cells of vascular plants and reach deep into the soil, efficiently transferring water and nutrients directly from the soil to the roots. Additionally, fungi secrete compounds that induce plants to generate more roots, creating additional surfaces for fungal growth. The moisture-retaining filaments enhance soil structure, leading to improved water infiltration, reduced surface runoff, and greater water retention capacity.
