Description
SPROFEX is a pesticide formulation with the combination of Profenofos 40% and Cypermethrin 4% in the form of an emulsifiable concentrate (EC). It is widely used for the control of various pests in agricultural crops.
Active Ingredients:
- Profenofos 40%: This organophosphorus compound acts as an effective insecticide and acaricide, targeting a wide range of pests.
- Cypermethrin 4%: A synthetic pyrethroid, it exhibits strong insecticidal and acaricidal properties, making it effective against various pests.
How to Use:
- Dilute the SPROFEX EC formulation with water as per the recommended dosage mentioned on the product label or as advised by an agronomist.
- Use appropriate spraying equipment for application.
- Ensure thorough coverage of the crop foliage with the diluted solution, particularly targeting the infested areas.
- Apply during the early stages of pest infestation or as a preventive measure, following the suggested application intervals.
Recommended Crop:
| Recommended Crop | Recommended Pests | Formulation (ml/ha) | Dilution in water (l/ha) |
| Cotton | Bollworm Complex | 1000-1500 | 500-1000 |
Features of the Product
- SPROFEX is a combination insecticide with broad-spectrum effectiveness.
- It falls within the organophosphate and Pyrethroid categories of insecticides.
- This non-systemic insecticide exhibits potent contact and stomach activity.
- It demonstrates a robust synergistic effect against the challenging bollworm complex.
- SPROFEX serves as a comprehensive solution for both sucking and chewing pests.
- With strong ovicidal and larvicidal properties, it effectively controls pest development stages.
- Additionally, it displays notable acaricidal activity against mites.
- Offering quick knockdown and extended residual control, SPROFEX proves highly efficient.
- Its excellent trans-laminar action targets pests on both the upper and lower surfaces of leaves.
- SPROFEX is nearly compatible with all commonly used chemicals in pest management.
Method of Operation
- SPROFEX operates through a dual mode of action.
- Profenofos, a key component, acts as a potent inhibitor of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase.
- This enzyme is crucial for transmitting impulses between nerve cells.
- Profenofos tightly binds to and inhibits acetylcholinesterase, disrupting nerve impulse transmission in synaptic regions of insect nerve cells.
- Cypermethrin, another active ingredient, functions as a Sodium channel modulator.
- It inhibits the entry of sodium ions into nerve cells, leading to hyperexcitation of the nerves
- The resulting nerve overstimulation triggers convulsions and paralysis, ultimately causing the death of the target insect.
How and When to Apply
- Foliar spray application is advised for optimal results.
- To prepare the SPROFEX solution:
- Take the recommended quantity of SPROFEX and add it to a bucket filled halfway with water.
- Mix the solution with agitation.
- Gradually add the remaining recommended quantity of water with continuous stirring.
- The total volume of water needed depends on factors such as crop stage, crop cover, total treatment area, and the type of sprayer used.
- Initiate the first spray as soon as insects reach the economic threshold level.
- A second spray is recommended 10 to 15 days after the initial application for sustained efficacy.
Safety Guidelines and Remedy
- Ensure a uniform spray for effective coverage.
- Refrain from mixing the solution with bare hands.
- Avoid spraying against the direction of the wind.
- Wear appropriate safety gear, including gloves, aprons, masks, etc.
- Refrain from smoking, drinking, eating, or chewing during the spraying process.
- Prevent contact with the mouth, eyes, and skin.
- Thoroughly bathe after the application.
- In case of poisoning, administer Atropine Sulphate intravenously at 2-4 mg, with 5-10 minutes intervals until poisoning symptoms subside.
